If you haven’t purchased your tickets yet, I encourage you to do so before our pre-registration period ends on April 30th. Take advantage of discount tickets and avoid lines at the festival by registering online, or in person at Herbs & Arts or Spirit Wise stores today. Weekend passes are only $45, Saturday passes only $20. After April 30th, tickets will only be available at the festival for an additional $5 each.

A multitalented composer, producer, audio engineer, sound designer, violinist, cellist, and vocalist, Rena Jones has been described as "the revered daughter of San Francisco's electronic music scene" -- OEM Radio.

Brennan Murphey is known throughout the northwest for his prolific music production, uplifting live psytrance sets, and live flute and guitar work. He was the first performer on the west coast to publicly demonstrate an original implementation of the reacTIVision tangible user interface, whereby he mixes his songs using playing cards in front of a video camera. Originally from the high desert town of Taos, New Mexico, he has preformed his original music for energetic crowds alongside the likes of Osiris Indriya, Sirius Isness, and Rabbit in the Moon throughout the western United States. Epsylon is also a successful promoter and experienced professional music educator, heading up Spun Academy's music production program for over a year before recently founding his own Phoenix Fire Sound School in Portland. He has helped many aspiring producers achieve expertise in the crafts of sound. In December of 2007, Epsylon teamed up with Osiris Indriya to form the project "Penticle". Penticle is currently working on its first album entitled "Keys to Shyamballah", scheduled for release in early 2008.

After spending several magical years in the industrial rave scene (warehouse spaceships) in Pittsburgh, PA during the middle to late 90's and after promoting about 20 raves during that same incredible mystical time period, I began my expedition as a dj. Actually, it wasn't that glorious, it happened by accident. A friend of mine left on vacation for a few weeks and asked if I would do him a favor and babysit his gear. I promptly agreed and his turntables and mixer sat in my basement for 2 days before I even touched them. I then decided I was going to "play" with them, so I went to a "new" little record store in Pittsburgh called Milk and bought my first tracks on vinyl. I went looking for some deep house and walked out with an arm full of Danny Tenaglia style tribal. After about 48 hours of nonstop trainwrecking I decided it was time to eat and get some sleep. I was straight up hooked on the vinyl crack.

Now seven years later, I am back to my east coast roots spinning melodic, chunky, dirty, minimal techno. I would not dare deny my west coast family a style that suits their tastes as well, so look out for new dubstep mixes with special mc work by Pete Clark. I want to thank anyone who ever danced while I played, you will never know how precious those moments are to me and I look forward to enjoying many more moments where we all meet on higher plane and the world slips away.

Jamie has been a central and pioneering figure in the Pacific Northwest’s trance community since 1998, moving to Oregon from San Francisco where he received important spiritual information about the role of trance music in the planetary awakening of consciousness. Over the next decade, he became a leader in the Northwest’s trance scene, helping focalize the Apollo’s Lute quarterly solstice and equinox gatherings and performing across the West Coast. He travels frequently to other cities and sometimes other countries in his work of awakening consciousness with his powerful music.

"Children are our future"

Knowing your heartfelt commitment to making a difference for good in the world, not only for today, but for generations to come, THE CHILDRENS’ PROGRAM is an opportunity for you to impact the world on a massive scale.

THE CHALLENGE

All over the world our children are being systematically indoctrinated with misleading, twisted, and untrue, propaganda telling them that murder, hate, and killing by committing suicide, are noble and holy practices which will be rewarded both here and in the hereafter by God. We see so called "schools" and institutions which use food and sweets as a lure and where even such beloved icons as Mickey Mouse are being used to propagate a virulent message of hate to innocent and undistcriminating minds. The wholesale destruction of high ideals in the minds of the young is not limited to any one group, but is pervading the whole of society today.

It is a known fact that any belief system absorbed at a very early age into the minds of our children will inform their decisions and actions for the rest of their lives, and so impact the future of the world.

It is a vital importance then, to see that our children are exposed to ideas and ideals of the highest value and benefit to them, that are fun and pleasurably presented so they are easily absorbed. To that end THE CHILDRENS' PROGRAM was created.

THE SOLUTION

The program is based on a series of children’s books using animals to teach universal truths and ideals. Stories such as “The Little Blue Monkey,” which teaches not to hate somebody just because they ‘re different. “ Hathi and the Penguin,” which explains that though there is one God, God has many different names. And that all the different names of God are good. In “ Rabbit and Raccoon,” Raccoon learns the secret of happiness by choosing to only think good thoughts, speak only good words, and do only good deeds. For as Raccoon says to Rabbit, “ thinking good thoughts, speaking good words, and doing good deeds, makes me feel good, makes me happy. And happy is all we ever really want to be!” The books are illustrated with charming line drawings of the animals, which can be colored, and fit nicely into the pocket. As the books express no cast or creed, religion of politics, they can go everywhere and be accepted by all and have been. The books, after being read to the children, then discussed, and sometimes acted out in a play, are then given to each child to take home, where the message then goes into the community as parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters, get to share the stories. ( Unbelievably! A man we met got his PHD doing his thesis on Hathi and the Penguin ) along with the books a treat is also given – sometimes bananas and hot milk, whole meal cookies and milk, or even a nutritious meal depending on our facility and ability.

START UP

For the past year we have been doing this program in a small way to see how and if it would work. The results were even more amazing than expected. Not only was it accepted everywhere but most important we learned that goodness when reinforced and encouraged is the true nature of children.

WHO

The program is being done under auspices of Food Relief International – The Servants of Charity, a registered charity, which makes your donation tax exempt. The program itself is being run by committed volunteers, who are already in place in countries all over the world. The volunteers take no salary, because they see this as an opportunity to make a real contribution and because having seen for themselves the importance of this work they passionately believe in it. They have understood – "nothing will change until the consciousness is changed.”

WHAT IT WILL TAKE

The cost is only 50 cents per child which includes, food, books, and expenses. Because each book will impact the lives of more than one child at least two or more children are affected for the cost of one. Our goal is to reach 80,000 and more children over the next two years. To achieve this we will need a budget of $20,000.

$20,000 = 80,000 children

$10,000 = 40,000 children

$5,000 = 20,000 children

The event which was the finale was the Symbiosis Gathering in California in September, and this mix reflects a portion of the Sons of Aurora set I played with my partner Norris. The gathering was one of the highlights of my summer and these particular tracks are for me a portal back to that amazing weekend up in the mountains East of San Francisco. The fact that they are all off of the same three labels goes to show that I am a big fan of what Flow, Blue Tunes and Iboga records are up to these days.

Sorry about the multiple postings, for some reason my previous two attempts ended up with empty postings. Grrr..... so now I am doing them one by one. =)

Norris and I had a blast at Motion Notion (Alberta, Canada) this year, the promoter James really out did himself and the weather was INTENSE but made for big adventures for sure.

We are now excited for our dub/glitch set at Shambhala (British Columbia, Canada) on the Beach stage on Saturday, and of course taking part in the Green Moon (Green Sector & Moon Tribe, hello turbo sound rig!!) camp at Burning Man (Nevada, USA) this August... now that's going to be one hot (+50 Celsius, zero humidity is the forecast) and dusty week in the desert. We will be wrapping up our summer festival season this year by playing at the Symbiosis gathering (California, USA) at the end of September so we are feeling very lucky for having so many incredible opportunities to play some tunes for folks.

We are VERY happy with how our set came together for this years Motion Notion festival, so we decided to record it afterwards here at home and post it up for others to enjoy. This year we were wedged between two full-on psy performers, with Wizzy Noise being the act to follow us, so our set was meant to be a roller coaster through driving minimal tech, progressive and full-on psy. Add to that the fact that our set started out with hot dry sky's filled with stars and ended during a MASSIVE rain/thunder storm with tornado warnings for the area in effect... talk about INTENSE!!!! In the end our laptop finally stopped working and our fear was that it had actually shorted out due to the rain but the next day it started up without a hitch which was a HUGE relief. Our goal was to keep everyone engaged, twist a few noodles and not burn people out on the full-on. From all the super-positive feedback I think we managed to kick some ass!! Many of the tracks are killer classics, with a few shinny new ones thrown in, and the overall flow is a bit of a journey so sit back and imagine the thunder clouds closing in from behind, and as the mix ends the rain is coming down with a vengeance and the clouds are swirling with the threat of tornadoes. They don't call us Sons of Aurora for nothing....

Coming to Colorado

I am excited to find this tribe .. I will be moving to the Denver Boulder area in august/ September, with my boyfriend Josh and our new baby. We meet while working within the intentional electronic scene in the northwest. Even though I loved the people and experiences there we both are very tired of the rain. We plan on moving to the Denver to start anew.. I am aching to join the integral movement in a more hands on way, and have seen that the workshops and intensives are becoming more frequent and available. I have also noticed tribes like this that remind me of the scene in portland which nurtured me creatively in so many ways. I am interested in Family Moons, Dreamtime, and..... maybe some of you can give some other places, people, groups we could check out. I was also wondering what area of Denver would be comparable to the Alberta area of Portland.. just slightly gentrified. How's the public transportation? Anybody need extra help for events? I'll buy my ticket and set-up/ clean-up.. ;) Any other dancing mama's and papa's in the family?

The completion of the family nineyear was a huge thing for me. The party was off the freaking chain. But by the end, it litterally took every last of ounce energy I could muster. In some ways it was everything I thought it would be, yet I still left with a feeling of disapointment. Mostly because the venue's security over-reacted to a minor situation and shut us down early. After putting so much in to the production, Mikey didn't even get to play his set. The night of the party I was pulled in so many different directions I never really got to listen to any of the music or talk to my friends who were there suporting the event. But all-in-all, it was totally worth it to bring my boys Lorin and Eskmo out to the NM desert. Cause, I just want to spread the breakbeat luv. Ya know? Albuquerque came out in force to support the event.

The drive home was pretty intense for me. I didn't even turn the radio on until I was almost home. Instead, I had a shaker egg, which I affectionally call a cosmic egg. I sang as many native chants I could remember and I thought a lot about this weekends event. I thought about many things we could have done to make the show run smoother and about all the things we did just right. As I chanted the songs of my ancestors, I thought how rave culture shares some similar aspects to shamanic trance dancing. Of course I think the major difference is intention and ceremony and a hell of a lot less dirty club drugs. Even with the blatent similarities, it doesn't seem that the the natives in New Mexico have quite caught on to the possibility that rave culture is truly a modern trance dance induced with an electronic generated beat. Tears came to my eyes when I thought about how cool it would be if elders from the local tribes had been there interacting with the people at the party. Just think of the positive influence they could make.

Either way, I think responsibility and respect must play a major role in the evolution of rave culture or it will dwindle away as ravers become more jaded and less spiritually connected.

The issue of cups

People were drinking directly out of the water spigot at the last Family shindig. I think I've caught myself a cold...which probably has more to do with stress than anything, but regardless, we need some way to make sure that everyone can get enough water, and that people are swapping saliva for enjoyment, not out of necessity.

I was thinking...what if we had some kind of a system where people pay less if they bring a cup? Kind of like how they pay less if they wear a costume? And for people who don't bring cups, we can do some kind of Family field trip on a random Saturday...hit the garage sales and thrift stores...and then take them home and decorate them. Can we get some kind of UV-reactive paint that works on glass or plastic? Maybe some glow-in-the-dark stickers? We can potentially have absurd amounts of fun with this.

What do people think? I'm having visions of parties where there's a cup in every hand. Am I just a dreamer?

I am totally facinated by all the possibilities of music production. Mikey and I were tweaking some of our own sounds the other night and we realized why electronic music will never die. Because the music just keeps evolving and getting more complicated. It is truly an awesome thing!

We have a lot of good plans in the works foor 2006 and beyond. It's time to take action! In addition to hosting many more awesome dance music events, we also wish to provide a space for personal transformational experience. We plan to do this by getting more involved with educational workshops, charity organizations and community outreach. To facilitate this process, early 2006 Family Productions will initiate the "Wise Up" campaign. Please stay tuned for more information.
